30 Days About Me Day 4: I was to think of these days many times.

30 Days About MeWow, it's day 4 of my 30 Days About Me challenge. If you've been reading along, I've joined in the fun started by Toni over at A Daily Dose of Toni. I've enjoyed revealing more about me and especially loved learning more about my fellow bloggers.  And it's not too late to join this meme.

Today's topic is - my favorite book. I'm an avid reader. I have been as far back as I can remember. Reading is a passion of mine. I will admit to not having the time (or taking the time) to read as much as I used to... but I read every chance I get. Today's topic is actually a little bit easier for me. Now, I do have a lot of favorite books, but I can actually name just one that is my all-time favorite.

Before I reveal my favorite book ever, here are a few I enjoyed and/or left an impression on me:

  • A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
  • As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner
  • Just about anything by Stephen King
  • Just about anything by Dean Koontz
  • Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
  • A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
  • Bram Stoker's Dracula
  • Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
  • The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
  • The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller

Okay, I really could go on and on. But I've tortured you enough. Now for my all-time favorite book ever...

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

I could read this book over and over. I feel like I know Atticus, Scout, Jem, and Boo. I can picture sitting on my front porch drinking iced tea (and I don't like iced tea) on a summer night with them. Although To Kill A Mockingbird deals with many social issues and the loss of innocence... it is full of such warmth and humor. And even though the book was published in 1960, the lessons are timeless.

I'd love to hear what your favorite book is. So please share it with us!

To Kill A Mockingbird is a classic! I've read it so many times and we have a Halloween tradition that while my mother and I passed out candy we watch the movie every year. I'm not sure how it started but it's a staple!

Donna, this book is one of two that I wrote about! I adore everything about it and I have my college students read it every semester that I can work it into the syllabus (I teach social justice/civil rights type classes).

@Toni - I started reading this book on a Saturday evening, and I literally stayed up almost the entire night finishing it.
